Putnam Northern Westchester BOCES anticipates the need for a Teaching Assistant for the 2026-2027 school year to assist the music teacher in the instruction and management of students with disabilities and have the ability to conduct classes in the teacher’s absence. Additionally, the successful candidate must be comfortable supporting beginner-level students on various instruments, help manage students during lessons, and have some level of proficiency in playing and teaching instruments such as guitar, keyboards, drums or wind instruments. This appointment will include a 4-year probationary period and lead to a possible recommendation for Tenure. QUALIFICATIONS: Certification as a Teaching Assistant or Teacher (Special Education preferred) required. CHARACTERISTICS DESIRED: Must be able to form positive relationships with students. Experience teaching students with various disabilities. Must be highly organized, dedicated to student progress, and able to explain musical concepts in an easy-to-understand and engaging manner. Successful candidates must have a positive, can-do attitude and be committed to the BOCES Mission of Service and Innovation through Partnership.
