Putnam Northern Westchester BOCES is seeking a full time Registered Nurse to join our Special Education Department for the 2026-2027 school year. RN needed to perform professional nursing services to students with multiple disabilities in school, community and/or off campus settings as stated on student IEPs and as needed. Must provide and maintain acceptable health standards, school health records, and the emergency treatment of student and employee health problems in accordance with state and district policies; must provide nursing coverage to other programs as needed and related work as required. QUALIFICATIONS: Must hold valid New York State RN licensure, current CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications; have the ability to work both independently and cooperatively with other nursing and instructional staff; possess top-notch oral and written skills and strong attention to detail; be willing to take responsibility for students’ wellbeing; and the ability to appropriately respond to pediatric illness and/or injury including, but not limited to, G-tube feedings, airway maintenance and seizure response. CHARACTERISTICS DESIRED: Previous experience working with special needs patients and experience with tracheostomy care, gastrostomy feedings and seizures (including those with Diastat) strongly preferred. Additionally, previous experience working with cardiac issues, shunts, baclofen pumps, etc. is strongly preferred. Candidates must be highly organized, flexible, and have effective communication and problem-solving skills. A positive, can-do attitude is a must.
