Qualifications:Demonstrate a high degree of interpersonal and communication skills, attention to detail, and adaptabilityNew York State Library Media Specialist certification and/or education/experience i.e., Master’s Degree in Library Science or related curriculum Responsibilities:Teaching 25 (40) minute media/skill lessons per week using library curriculum map scope and sequence. (5 each day).Collaborating with classroom teachers and other specialists to plan interdisciplinary instruction that incorporates research and addresses multiple literacies, including information literacy, media literacy, and technology literacy.Developing a culture of reading and promoting reading as a foundational skill for learning, personal growth, and enjoyment.Maintaining building libraries and working with principal to manage duties of library clerical and teach assistant as necessary (e.g., setting up schedules to combine open access, special events and instructional use of the library space).Coaching teachers and modeling implementation of technology-enhanced learning activities that emphasis 21st century skills (critical thinking, systems thinking, problem identification, formulation, and solution, creativity, and intellectual curiosity) for learning and growth.Participating in faculty and grade level meetings to expand knowledge and assist in creating a strong professional learning network.
